One of the great things about living in Hawaii (you know, besides the obvious reasons) is that I get to spend a little way too much time each morning reading everyone's blog posts (since everyone has usually posted by the time I wake up).
Today I got to browse through everyone's Quilt Festival posts - so fun!
So then I had to search through my blog for my favorite quilt. I know a lot of you like this one but I think my favorite(s) are the two I made for my girls last summer.
I see them every night when I put the girls to bed and they just make me happy.
I used a lot of Freshcut fabric in both quilts which was some of the first fabric I bought when I got back into sewing and entered the world of blogs.
I used a pattern (which I am not very good at doing) and I had times of wanting to give up and add them to my pile of UFO's, but I didn't and I'm so happy now that I finished them both.
I think the quilts I have made for my kids have to be my most favorite because I thought about them while working on the quilts....how they would use their quilts...for play, for comfort, for warmth....that they would have their quilts for a long time and be able to look at them and think of me.
That's what we do when we sew isn't it? Put a little bit of ourselves, our love, into each creation. That's why it's so fun - so fulfilling.
