I put up the rest of the Christmas decorations today. It was the activity in our advent calendar (what a coincidence - ha ha!).
Yesterday after church a friend and I went and did some shopping and saw a movie. The movie was ok - not as funny as billed to be. But it was nice to get away for the day and spend time with a good friend.
I picked up a wreath at Costco and now am anxious to go buy a tree....loving the smell.
I looked in vain for an advent candle wreath of some sort so we settled on a makeshift one for now. We've never done the advent candle thing (not sure what else to call it) but I think it's a fun tradition to start and will help the kids grasp the true meaning of Christmas.
We also have an advent elf that I bought (last year?) from Garnet HIll. It looked super cute in the catalog but it's a little creepy in real life. But he's staying.
I usually fizzle out on the calendar but this year I want to do all 24 days. I bought all of them a book yesterday for one of the days and a Christmas puzzle to assemble another day. I looked at this amazing list for activities/ideas.
I think I'm going to write the activity for each day on a little tag and then put it into the pocket the night before...this way I can plan things around already scheduled activities.
I'm making some sets of burp cloths for the craft fair...here's the first two sets.
