It's not the real name - I really need to buy one of these - but that's the color orange it is.

And it's what I'm using to sash my Common Thread 2 quilt. I know it looks like a bizarre combo but I think it's going to work. I have to wait to get it all together to be sure but so far, so good.

And I decided on a different direction for my month (November) for A Notion or Two. I'm going to have everyone make wonky stars using pink and blue munki munki and Heather Ross fabrics.

I had to order a little more white but it's on the way and I'll be sending these out next week.

Can you tell soccer season is over? - (except for our oldest whose season just keeps going into Spring)

I do still sew

Just have felt overwhelmed and un-motivated lately but I think it's coming back.

I was playing around the other day and made up a patchwork clutch....

 

and a couple oilcloth totes....

a skirt (playing with AB's LOVE)..

and bunting for the girls' room out of vintage linens....

I really need to be working on my swap items - but think I'll go finish up the quilting on this quilt instead.

hey all

Sorry I didn't get to the winners yesterday - And I totally spaced on putting a birthday post up for my 12 year-old (it was yesterday).

I can't believe my first-born is that old already!

Seems like it was just yesterday that we were a couple of kids, driving home from the hospital, wondering how the doctors and nurses were letting us take him home when we didn't know what we were doing!

But he survived!

My hubby's grandmother had been sick all week and this morning we got an email saying she had passed away. Hubby's fine - I think he's mostly worried about his mom - Mamacita (that's what everyone called her) was such a sweet woman and I'm so glad he got the chance to see her again this year.

So I'm exhausted today from a long soccer day so I'll post the winners either tomorrow and Monday - hope that's ok! Have a wonderful Sunday (we still have Sat. evening here to enjoy too).

A new, new iMac

So did you all see today how Apple came out with new iMacs?

Well, I did - and promptly took my 10 day old iMac back to trade it in for a new one. They were so helpful and nice but Hawaii hasn't received their shipment yet so for now I just have a giftcard.

Luckily the trusty eMac is still going strong.....but the switch back to it is almost comical - at least I'll probably get a lot more done the next few days.

Tonight is my sister-in-law's cd release party - we have a sitter and are headed to Pearl after Hubby gets off work - I'm a little nervous to be honest - don't think I've ever even set foot inside a nightclub - luckily it will be filled with people we know for the most part. And I think I'll be put to work right away which is good.

And Hope has offered to give away 3 of her cd's here - but I'll save them for next week after the Warrior stamp giveaway is over (you can still enter that giveaway - tell your friends!!)

Warriors

This month is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I was contacted last week about giving away some stamp sets on my blog and of course I was more than happy to spread the word.

I've talked about my brother Ryan before - he's not my biological brother (we are actually not related in any way) but he is my brother in every sense of the word - he's our family and we love him. His mother passed away from breast cancer 5 years ago - she was the true essence of a warrior. She was so brave and strong and I feel privileged to have known her.

So in honor of all the warriors we know - Ford Cares is giving away 5 sets of stamps here on my blog - I'm sorry to say I am going to have to limit this to the US only since the stamps are pretty heavy and the postage would just be too much for me to send them internationally.

14 = 4x4 right?

Ha ha - at least that's what my scattered brain was thinking today. I had 12 blocks from my Common Threads month and I was thinking I would just need two more to make it four rows by four rows.

I made 2 more blocks - pink - for some contrast and went about putting them on my design wall. Imagine my shock when I realized...oh yeah, 4x4 is 16 - Duh!!

(I used some of my fabulous scraps from a swap with Dana)

(I think I am officially a fan now)

So I will be making 2 more. I am thinking I want to stagger the blocks - I saw a quilt like that and now can't remember where I saw it.....

I finished up the sashing on this quilt today too.

At first I was going to just go with white sashing but then I thought I'd be adventurous and try orange....I like the way it came out.

I didn't have a soccer game which was so nice for a change - actually got to do some sewing on a Sunday.....

but I still haven't folded the 5 or 6 baskets of clothes that have been in the living room since Thursday!
