I know it seems like I get a lot done...but really I don't sew 24/7...honestly!
I tend to work in little bursts (and neglect laundry) which seems to help with production. And we don't go lots of places - we hang out here and play cards and ride our scooters and bikes.
The pink spiral quilt did not take much time at all...the big munki block was already made and it was just a few cuts and some straight lines to sew the top together. The back was a whole piece of fabric and the quilting took a few hours one afternoon.
I save the binding for nights..watching tv with the hubby or listening to an audiobook.
This one was finished last night while watching Mamma Mia.
There's an ongoing joke about this one because last Saturday I read all about this (the whole dumbing down of quilting debate) online and told him about it.
He came up later that day as I was sewing the spiral quilt and jokingly said, "That doesn't look very professional. It looks way too easy - I think you may be dumbing it down."
At first I thought he was serious and then realized he was making fun of the whole "dumbing down" concept.
Then last night as I finished this one, he told me, "I like the quilting on this one way more - not like that other one with the dumbed-down quilting."
He was kidding of course (about the dumbing down part) but it's funny because I like the spiral quilt way more and he likes this one...to each his own. I just thought it was funny he was listening to me rant about the whole topic to begin with - apparently they do listen to us sometimes!
I love these curved edges...bias binding on the other hand...not so much. Still trying to figure out the best way to make it.
The quilting for this one was inspired by this quilt.
I made Penny's blocks for Busy Bees yesterday afternoon.
She wanted "scrappy" which is right up my alley!
I used this as a guide and made four 6.5" blocks that I then sewed together to make one 12.5" block.
I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere for blocks like this but couldn't find it yesterday so I improvised and this is what came of it...it's like a big, wonky log cabin.
oh yeah - and the winner!
The random number generator has spoken (which was actually me just yelling to my son, "Pick a number between 1 and 63") and the winner is....
