Poor Beth has waited forever for me to show her pictures of the sewing table hubby made for me last summer.
It's actually just something that sits on top of my existing desk....and it has a hole cut out for the sewing machine.
Here's a very picture-heavy description of it:
He made it out of plywood and I covered it with oilcloth (and lots of packing tape - ha ha!)
It's about 36" x 60".
He measured to the top of the sewing table on the sewing machine and that is how high he made the "legs".
He just laid my sewing machine on top and traced around it to figure out the size for the hole and then cut it with a jigsaw. The corners are rounded too...
It's not actually attached to my sewing table - but it never moves and now I have it butted up against a wall anyway.
I found a few links to DIY sewing tables:
This one is way more elaborate than mine - I like it!
And as far as my basting method - I have never tried spray-basting before...mostly because I don't want to clean any sticky mess up :-)
I pin baste using this method. It works great for me, except when I occasionally run over a pin.
Let me know if there are any questions and I'll answer them.
