A few quick things

Hope everyone is ready for a fun weekend - we have a few birthday parties to go to and I plan to quilt that custom twin.

I keep getting emails asking about whether people can use my tutorials to make things to sell and I figured I should write something here so everyone will know.

Yes, by all means, you are welcome to use any of my tutorials to make things and sell them (not commercial sales but you know what I mean - ha ha!). I just ask that you credit back my tutorials when you do...thanks!

And I added a little sidebar thingy that will hopefully make it easier to follow me no matter what blog reader you use - let me know if it works ok....I'm not super tech-savvy.

I uploaded some ipad covers and guitar straps into the shop yesterday.

And finished the quilt I was working on. Here's a sneak peek:

And I'm so happy - I booked my airplane tickets to go to Sewing Summit in October! I'm actually going to Seattle for a few days first as one of my best friends lives there so I get to spend a few days with her and then fly to Salt Lake - I am beyond excited!! Best part is - I used miles for both tickets - woohoo!!

Chugging along

Do any of you ever over-commit yourselves? I'm sure you don't right? It's only me - lol!

I'm slowly chipping away at my lists of things to do.

I'm in a fun little doll quilt swap with a few friends and boy did that deadline sneak up on me.

It's done now - whew!

I'm also working on a pattern for an online magazine - the deadline is Friday but I only need to finish up the binding, wash it, and take a few finished pictures.

(I used flannel on the back so it's so soft)

I had an order for a custom guitar strap which I mailed off today and  I made a few more while I was at it...

I thought Curious Grey would be perfect for some guitar straps.

And a Batman one - just cause. Need to get the hardware on these and then they'll be headed into the shop.

And these two pillows are in the shop right now...

I love these word pillows - they are so fun to make. I ordered some fun Japanese newspaper prints and will make some more when they come.

I have a big twin quilt that I need to quilt this week - Just need to work up the energy to lay it all out and baste it.

A few more items are on the list too...making myself tired just thinking about them.

Not to mention school, house stuff and laundry...always laundry.

I do have a question for any of you that homeschool and have kids with dyslexia. What curriculum do you use to help them with reading? Is there anything you've found that works particularly well? I'm on the lookout for my nine year old...thanks!

Beautiful Ending

This was how we ended our day yesterday....

I know..sorry! Especially to all of you that are looking out to snow-covered everything.

Hubs got home from work and we all decided to head down to the beach for a late-afternoon swim.

Well, the kids got in the water at least...

We met up with a few friends too.

Love those boys - they are adorable!

This one won't let me take his picture anymore so I have to be sneaky!

I brought my Habitat quilt down too and snapped some photos.

I need to branch out and start taking pictures of my quilts in places besides the back yard!

I think from now on my quilts are hitting the beach!

The quilting was all done by the lovely Angela Walters - isn't it amazing?

It's on the couch now...perfect size too - it's about 64" x 78".

Timeline

I updated my Facebook page with a custom timeline cover from Sugarflies Designs.

So cute yeah?

I'm trying to be better about posting there and adding pictures and stuff.

Made some more typewriter zip pouches for the shop this weekend.

And a sewing machine.

Have a few pillows that are close to completion too...

The hubs is back to a normal work week and we are back to our schedule - I love having a normal schedule....

I have about a million things I want to sew right now - so many ideas in my head.

I made a want-to-do mosaic:

Walking Dead

Anyone watch that show? Hubby is a big fan but it's just way too gory for me.

Anyway, Hubs is working nights this week doing a tile job in a local coffee shop (so he has to work when it's closed).

Poor guy - he has been walking around so tired. We try and keep as quiet as we can and he usually wakes up around 11 am or 12. Think it's just 2 more nights - and then he goes back to work on Monday.

So I have been doing some night sewing this week - finished the top for a custom order and now am waiting on some thread to quilt it.

I also need to finish up this little house pillow and a pillowcase with two birds appliqued on it for the same order.

Got a new shipment of zippers - love this shop! Don't they look like a big pile of candy?

Hmm...what else....

I changed my name in my Etsy shop - I couldn't get One Shabby Chick {it was taken} so I just added Hawaii to the end.

I bought a new little banner for the shop too - and I have someone working on a timeline for my FB page since I don't have photoshop and have no idea what to do anyway.

It's super cute - can't wait to show you guys!

OK hope everyone has an amazing weekend....I must say - I'll be sad to see Hubby go back to work on Monday (even though it will be nice for him to get a steady paycheck again).

I've loved spending so much time with him this year - vacation and then a few weeks off work....it's been great for our family.

Destash

Wow - what a busy weekend...and to top it all off my camera was refusing to upload any photos!

Luckily I picked up a card reader and can use that instead.

I spent Saturday morning making fabric packs for a shop destash....and they are all in the shop now.

I finished up my pillow for the pillow swap and mailed it off today.

Hubby is working nights this week so there could be some late-night sewing.

Have to finish my Brrr! quilt and a cute pink quilt for a customer....

And I haven't forgotten about that giveaway - I'll announce the winner tomorrow!!

Hail in Hawaii

So the weather here has been bad this week - raining everyday, flash flooding and even hail!

And I'm going to attempt to drive in to town to visit this lovely lady who is here visiting - what a week to come to Hawaii - poor things! It's been raining since they got here!

I made up some more camera pouches and a few typewriter ones too and listed them all in the shop this morning.

I also cleaned out my stash and have a big pile to de-stash but that will have to wait until later this afternoon and tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - I'm praying for sun!

The two older kids and the hubs are heading off to youth camp later today - it is going to be so muddy!!

Some time

Hubby is temporarily laid off for the next couple weeks so he's just doing side jobs here and there - this means I have a helper around the house some days and more time to sew!

I'm waiting on fabric to come for a few orders I need to work on so today I made a little camera pouch that I had pinned a while back.

The original one is by Fossil and is leather. I drew up my own little templates and made one out of fabric.

I made it for a friend who's been helping out by taking amazing pictures at the youth camp our church and a few others are having (senior high was last weekend, junior high is this weekend - Hubby is a leader for both).

She's donating her time and talent and she had commented on my pin on Pinterest so I thought it would be a fun gift to make for her.

(and she has an awesome name :-) ha ha - it's Amber)

I also tried my hand at some paper piecing - I've done it before but this time I actually did it the right way! I used this pineapple template and reduced it to 60%.

It took me a while (and two attempts) but I got it!

I had seen this block on Flickr and knew I wanted to use it to make Ayumi's block.

Ayumi's theme for March for Ringo Pie is anything related to grocery stores so I made her a little fruit stand.

ok - it's rainy and cold here....well, cold for us :-) so I'm off to cuddle under a quilt and sew some binding.
