I'm thrilled to be part of a virtual party for Jacquie and Katie's new book, Quilting Modern!
I've already been gushing about this book here and on Instagram - and I kinda jumped the gun and showed you my quilt front that I made with the Supernova pattern.
I'm just so excited about this book and when I'm excited about something, I must tell everyone...right away!
I've have a couple quilting books that I really love but this one is at the top of the list! The techniques are just so fun and modern and so easy to interpret into your own design. That's what they really wanted you to do with this book - to take their techniques and make the quilts your own. I love that!
I met Jacquie when I was in my first-ever quilting bee - Common Threads. I love reading her blog and seeing the amazing quilts she creates - She truly is such an inspiration and so generous with her ideas.
I think I stumbled onto Katie's blog around the same time - and was blown away by the quilts she creates - those HST value quilts are just amazing! We both love beer and soccer and I cannot wait to meet her when I'm in Seattle in October - just so creative and down-to-earth!
I made a quilt top out of the Supernova pattern - I made my blocks a little smaller so I could keep it baby size and use some of my Munki munki and Heather Ross prints.
I'm wishing I had gone for a bit more contrast between the blue and white fabrics like they did in their pattern with the yellow and pink but I'll do that in the next one I make.
I really cannot recommend this book enough - for me it has hit a new standard as far as quilting books go - and is written by two of the nicest, creative authors you can find!!
Go check out their great studio/livudio tours - I loved reading about how they arrange their spaces!
