Planet Earth

Have you all see this series? Wow! I may be one of the last people to watch it I guess. We recorded a couple episodes over the weekend and so the kids and I watched them as part of school on Monday and Tuesday.....so fascinating.

I had to buy the dvds when I saw them at Costco yesterday- they are that good.

I finished up 5 doll quilts and nailed them up to the wall yesterday.

The one little bird (the one that I appliqued) is a little off-center because there's a screw sticking through from the kitchen wall (and I needed to cover it)...Bela scratched herself on it and that's what first got us thinking about doll quilts for the wall.

(this one was supposed to be for this - but I saw it lying there and turned it into a doll quilt instead)

The little house one is down on Baby Girl's level and I think I'll make another "birds" quilt for her too.

I sewed up the front of my picnic quilt and after some wonderful advice, I am going to put batting in it so it will actually be a comfortable quilt to sit on.

I need to sew up a backing and (ughh) quilt it. It's pretty big - 76" square - so I think I'm going to just do lines since I want it to be softer anyways.

And - I gave this bag to my sister-in-law a while ago since she said she really like it (even though I told her it was a reject - the seams were too bulky).

Anyway, while she was in TX at the music conference look who she got a picture of - and there's my bag too :-)

I have the spent the day sewing and have some things to show....

More star blocks and the first partial row sewn up...

I finished up the rest of my quilt-a-long blocks this morning and am about halfway done with the front.

These 4 are my favorite blocks.

I'm not too sure about the blue ones - ughh! But there's no going back now.

I listened too some great soundtracks today - this and this....love them both and I think after I take a shower (I know, gross...it's 5:45 pm and I still haven't taken one), I'm going to watch this movie.

But only because I haven't gone to the store to buy this one yet.

Hubby is at a wedding (without me, weird I know). We were invited but we don't know them that well so I rsvp'd "no" since that would require getting a babysitter....and it's a couple from our church and everyone we know is going so I didn't know who to ask to babysit.

But my brother and his wife had said they'd go, but now my sister-in-law is here, opening for these bands...so my brother took my hubby as his date. Wonder if they'll do any dancing (ha ha - neither of them are dancers)?

Pincushion

I made this pincushion yesterday after searching for this magazine for a while (I found it at a grocery store).

Somehow in Hawaii we always get magazines later than the rest of the country! I don't know what it is. Probably that huge body of water separating us from everyone :-)

Anyway, this is my second attempt. #1 is not really photo-worthy but is on my sewing table since it did take some effort. This one came out much better...but be warned, they are rather large pincushions! But really pretty. And the color combos you can try with these are endless!

I'm listening to this cd - found here this morning. I love her voice and I already love this cd and I just bought it this morning.

I finally made it to the black apple's shop update. Man do those things go fast. I really wanted an original - this one is gorgeous. But just don't have the money for it right now. I managed to snag a couple cameos though. I had a doll in my cart but didn't check out quick enough. It's crazy!

My ebay items are going well...have bidders/watchers on almost every item! Next week I'll be hitting the post office a lot I think. Ebay sales and these swaps - books and scraps. My first two swaps! Maybe they'll give me the confidence to join more. It always makes me nervous that I won't send enough or something.

Ok have a great day...we are off to Walmart (can't wait to say we're off to Target but :sigh: that won't be for a while!).
